| The Frederick Fair is happening this week, and Frederick County Fire & Rescue volunteers from across the county are once again stepping up to support fairgoers with Emergency Medical Services and fire prevention outreach. Volunteers are staffing the EMS tent, ready to respond at a moment’s notice, while also providing fire safety materials to anyone who requests them.
“Gear Up” is on-site actively recruiting, and our Frederick County Public Schools Work-Based Learning interns are out engaging fair visitors, encouraging new volunteer firefighters and EMS providers to join our growing system. With call volumes increasing and our service area expanding, volunteer participation is more important than ever.
Students interested in becoming FCPS/VFRS interns can find more information on this website. The program follows the school calendar and offers high schoolers ages 16–18 a hands-on introduction to the fire service.
