🔥 October is National Fire Prevention Month! 🔥

2026 Theme: “Charge into Fire Safety™ — Safe Charging Is a Superpower.”

This month, we’re highlighting the simple, everyday charging habits that help prevent lithium ion battery fires in our homes and neighborhoods. From phones and laptops to e bikes and power tools, safe charging protects you, your family, and the entire community.

But fire prevention doesn’t stop with safety tips—it starts with people.
Our volunteers in Fire & Rescue play a vital role in educating the public, responding to emergencies, and keeping Frederick County safe. Their dedication ensures that prevention, readiness, and community support remain strong all year long.

Be a Safety Hero:

• Use manufacturer approved chargers
• Charge devices on hard, flat surfaces
• Unplug when fully charged
• Watch for signs of overheating or damage
• Charge larger devices outdoors and away from exits

👉 Take Action Today:

Strengthen your fire smart habits, share safety tips with those around you, and consider becoming part of our Fire & Rescue volunteer family. Every volunteer helps make prevention possible.

Small actions—and dedicated volunteers—make a big impact. Every time you plug in, and every time you step up to serve, you help protect our community.
