WE CARE. FOR EVERYONE.

EMS week is an annual event which takes place during the third week of May. This year EMS Week is May 18 - 24, 2025. We want to recognize the dedication and lifesaving skills that are put to test every day by the work of emergency medical services.

What is EMS?

EMS stands for Emergency Medical Services. These are also known as ambulance and paramedic services. Their role is to handle urgent medical-related situations such as accidents and serious illnesses such as heart attacks.

EMS is staffed by EMT’s, or Emergency Medical Clinicians and Paramedics. EMT’s are responsible for the treatment and transportation of patients to the hospital. They may also assist paramedics.

Did YOU know many EMT’s are VOLUNTEERS? Nationwide volunteer EMT’s respond to nearly half of all 911 calls.

In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation's communities. National Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's frontline. EMS Week is presented by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) in partnership with the National Associations of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT).

EMS Week is a time to thank paramedics, EMTs and the entire EMS workforce for their service and sacrifices. It's also an opportunity for EMS to continue to raise public awareness about the critical role of EMS in the community.

Come Gear Up with us to become a volunteer EMT. Because We Care. For Everyone.
