The coronavirus pandemic has cancelled many of the traditional events that we have come to appreciate each spring. Among those traditions is graduation ceremonies, a celebration of the accomplishments and hard work the senior class of that year has put in over the last four years. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, most seniors did not have the traditional in-person gathering on their planned graduation day this year.

Colleges and schools statewide held virtual graduation ceremonies to honor the class of 2020, which were streamed via social media so the graduates and their families could share in the celebration. This decision was made after the Governor’s press conference on May 6th stating that no more than 10 people can gather, even outdoors. have faced the Covid-19 pandemic, a unique challenge and at the end of the year altering your plans and expectations. You are adaptable and this will serve you well as you take your next steps in life. The world needs your positive
spirit, creativity and resilience now more than ever and we are counting on you to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue has many current graduates volunteering at our local fire and rescue corporations throughout the county. If you are looking to be involved in the community or medical field, this is a great opportunity for you. The attached article is about one of our volunteer members, Miss Dorsey, gaining medical experience while still in high school.

We hope that Miss Dorsey’s experience will encourage you and your friends to volunteer with Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue. We need YOU to follow your dreams, always be kind and work hard. Now go out into this world and make a difference!

Congratulations Class of 2020!!
